Background

I was born in Oulu, Finland on 18th of January 1988. Growing up amongst early computers, I got used to fiddling with them early on. When I was about ten years old I started to learn the basics of 3D graphics and began improving my cg skills. Over the years as I studied more of the traditional arts I started to explore different techniques trying to find 'the right one' for me. Nowadays my main interests are graphic design, vector graphics and data visualization.

As of fall 2007 I'm studying in Helsinki University of Technology (TKK) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. I'm planning to major in Media Engineering so that I can focus on computer graphics and related research topics. My studies involve a lot of programming (mainly java) and so far it has been quite fun. In November 2007 I started as the graphic designer of Tietokilta, my student guild.

Besides visual arts I'm also interested in music. I've played the piano since I was nine and sung in a choir for ten years. I've also composed music for couple of my bigger projects.

I'm also known as 'juriga' in irc, online games and some other places there is a need for a nickname.
